And now I begin to guide myself. . .
This is the commitment we make to ourselves when we step onto the yoga mat, sit on the meditation cushion or begin the deep dive into self inquiry. My work is to hold the container for you to explore. We arrive on the path for various reasons at different times in our lives and with a diverse range of life stresses. Life is difficult and often challenging but we also have a hunch that there is something more and so we find our way to the practice both a means to manage the complexity and as an ends to know our potential.
At some point by choice or by no other choice we dare to ask,
Is there something more?
And so there is yoga
A system rooted in the love for all beings and whose aim is to end suffering. It is a practice that uses the body to move beyond the body. Through vigorous vinyasa flow or slow restorative postures we create an environment that unravels the habits that lead to suffering. In the quiet recesses of the mind, though simply sitting with what is, we learn the incredible skill of being present because running from ourselves has become too big a burden to bear. And finally, through journalling and dialogue, stories and connection to one another, we see that what began as the problem (the complexity of being human) is really the solution.
