Welcome Video:

Free Gift Meditation:

Our 40 days together begin on the first day you practice the sequence. Take good care of yourself, listen to your body, and commit to practicing every day for at least 22 minutes. Set aside days to spend more time. Admit that this might be hard and some poses will be challenging; part of the process is remembering what we are capable of. If you fall off one day, don’t let that moment derail you; simply begin again the next day. George Mumford says, “Being mindful of our unmindfulness is mindfulness.” Journal why it didn’t work out that day, say to yourself, “I got distracted; how human of me,” then remember why you committed to this series and begin again.

The practice won't take away our suffering. But it will give us the tools to stand in uncertainty in a clear and balanced way, and it will remind us of the beauty that exists amidst the stuck place we sometimes find ourselves in.

Together in possibility,

Cynthia

Diaphragmatic breathing and Breath of Fire will be our primary breath techniques for this practice. Diaphragmatic breathing is a foundational breathing pattern that you will want to understand and master before Breath of Fire. If you are unsure of diaphragmatic breathing, please practice along with this tutorial until the breath becomes natural and easy for you. Breath of Fire follows the same principles of diaphragmatic breathing at a more rapid and energetic pace.

Do not practice Breath of Fire if you are pregnant, have a respiratory infection, high blood pressure, cardiac issues, vertigo, or any spinal issues. Diaphragmatic Breathing or Bhramari are good alternatives. Please contact me if you have any questions.

40 Days to Change Sequence

The following tutorial details the sequence we will practice together for the next 40 days.

Ong namo guru dev namo; I bow to divine wisdom. I bow to the teacher within

How to prepare for your practice:

  • Set up your mat with a symbol of your intention such as a candle, photo, poem, or journal entry

  • Have tissue available

  • Create a playlist that inspires your intention and commitment

  • Have a device to keep track of time. If you are using your phone put it on airplane mode to avoid distractions

  • Grab a journal to record your growth and change along the way.

For this week’s practice you will want a block and a strap. This rejuvenating flow will open the side body in order to connect to your center, perfect for setting intentions and moving forward open and receptive to change. Enjoy

  1. Pick your non-negotiable practices. The things that you are willing to put at the top of your priority list. This 40 Days to Change sequence might be plenty. Maybe you do this and a movement practice every day, or walk first thing in the morning to be in nature. Maybe you practice what I call “my holy half-hour”; first thing in the morning with my cup of coffee, I journal and sit in silence preparing for the day. A journal prompt that has been beneficial in times of transition is: “what will you have me know today?” I write as if my angels, saints, spirits, and guides are talking to me.
